Janeane Anderson, PhD, MPH, Lecturer, Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, University of Southern California

The CDC estimates that there are 20 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the United States each year. STD infection rates are significantly and disproportionately higher among youth, racial/ethnic minorities and sexual minorities. Differences in infection rates among vulnerable populations cannot be fully explained by differences in individual risk behaviors. A host of other factors including discrimination, microaggressions, environmental injustice, wealth inequality, and health care access barriers contribute to the continued disproportionate impact on certain populations.

This on-demand webinar explores what we know about STD disparities and provides intervention strategies to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of STDs in high-impact communities.
